I’m Chandler Marino – Lead Singer Lady/Songwriter & Player of Drums

Born and raised in Chicago, I’ve been performing in local bands for the past 20+ years. I’ve been the drummer for killer bands like ThoseKids, TK04, ½ Mad Poet, Butter and, most recently, The Hybrids. It was always my dream to sing lead and I’ve often said, “I’m really a singer trapped in a drummer’s body!” In my most recent venture, The Hybrids, I discovered it didn’t have to be one or the other, so I did both.

I’m self-taught and I like to think I do ok as a drummer, but singing is really my passion.  My musical tastes run all the way from System of a Down to Robert Johnson and I’ve played it all. Blues, funk ‘n roll has always been my favorite and I’m inspired by artists like Gary Glark, Jr., Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, The Allman Brothers, Susan Tedeschi, Danielle Nicole,  and so many others. My song choice criteria is simple – it’s got to kick you in the crotch    within the first 10 seconds.  If you check out my current set list, you’ll see what I mean. My self-described genre is “Funk’nRoll with a Whole Lotta Soul”.

I’m proof that it’s never too late to live your dreams. That said, I’m not a spring chicken anymore and I realize my window of opportunity to play live music gets smaller every year.  While The Hybrids created a lot of incredible music over the past 4 years, it’s time to move on to (hopefully) bigger and better things.

Take a listen.  If this style of music is in your bones like it’s in mine and you’re a groove-driven, funk-riddled bassist or lead/rhythm guitarist, we should talk.
